The project
The house faces the sea, and the interior is arranged so nothing gets between the rooms and the water. The living hall runs the full height of the house, glazed end to end towards the beach; a curved stair sweeps through it, and a full-height wall of oak shelving — backlit, brass-edged, dense with objects — gives the volume its one strong surface. Everything else stays quiet: pale marble floors, off-white walls, sheer curtains, and seating kept low so the horizon reads over it.
Dining and the kitchen open off the hall through veined marble portals, the table set parallel to the glass, and the bar and wine wall are treated as pieces of joinery rather than rooms. Planting is brought indoors in large groups so the interior reads as a continuation of the terrace. The palette is pale enough that the light off the sea does most of the work, and warm enough — oak, brass, terracotta accents — that it does not read cold at night.
“Pale and open, so the sea does the work.”
