The project

The house stretches along its plot rather than rising off it. Living spaces gather behind a deep loggia on the garden side, where the roof plane oversails to shade both the glass and the terrace beneath, and the pool is pulled out to the full width so the water reflects the elevation back into the rooms.

The lighting was designed with the architecture rather than after it: concealed linear light traces the soffits and horizontal edges, planting is uplit to give the garden depth once the sun goes, and interior warmth spills out through the full-height glazing. In daylight the house is calm and pale; at night it becomes a sequence of lit horizontal planes.

02A broad frontage is broken into framed volumes, with planting easing the meeting with the street.
03The entrance sits within the façade's larger rhythm of open bays and solid planes.
04Recessed glazing gives the upper rooms shelter behind the depth of the façade.
05A separate pergola carries outdoor life beyond the protection of the main roof.
06The pergola's open edges keep poolside dining connected to the whole garden.

07A lowered seating area creates a more intimate gathering place beside the terrace.
08Warm light within the rooms gives the long garden elevation depth after dark.
09The loggia provides a continuous sheltered route along the living spaces.
10Outdoor dining shares the same long garden outlook as the rooms inside.
