Solid travertine to the street, sliding glass decks to the sea, and a pool terrace set on the rocks.

The project

The plot runs from a busy road to a rock edge on the Gulf, so the house is two-faced by design. To the street it is closed and composed: travertine boxes, a fluted stone fin, a deep entrance canopy cut around a palm, and a car court kept low and planted.

To the sea it opens completely. The floors slide past one another as long glazed decks, each cantilevered further toward the water, so every level gets its own terrace and the roof becomes a garden. At ground level the pool, a reflecting basin, an outdoor kitchen and a covered lounge are strung along the edge of the rocks, with the house pulled back far enough to let the sea take the foreground.

The entrance canopy is cut around a palm rather than the palm being moved.
